This week Helga challenged us to make a collage (any size) that focused on either "warm" or "cool" colours. It just so happened that Helga and Jackie and I were getting together this weekend for an art play day, so I decided I would focus on my challenge pieces, and decided to make two collages, one warm and one cool.
We had so much fun - we laughed, we ate lots of goodies and made some wonderful art using some not-yet-released new products from ARTchix Studio! Consider this your private "sneak peek"! Shhhh! :)
First up was warm:
I started with one of these fun pre-cut shapes that will be coming out soon from ARTchix - kind of circus tent shape - very cool! I painted it roughly with gesso, then some Lumiere paint, then added an old pattern piece, then more Lumiere and some watercolour crayon. The hand holding the flowers, the lovely lady and the butterflies are all new images that will be available in the next product release - love them all! Added the word (also from ARTchix) and a bit of Martha Stewart glitter glue and tada -- my "cool" collage was finished!
Next up came the "warm" pallette:
All very similar techniques and materials here with different colour pallette (and more new images!). That "moon" behind the new purple butterfly is an image cut out from a button sheet that is also coming out - fun!
Thanks Helga for the fun play day and the fun colour challenges. Visit Helga's blog to find out how to join in this fun challenge - there's even a prize! I love that the prizes for these challenges are picked by Helga's pets, and not "judged".
