More Calendar Pages for Helga's Challenge

I made a couple more spreads in my sketchbook project book using my old Cavellini calendar pages.  This is part of a challenge to use up last year's calendar (and potentially win an ARTchix Studio gift certificate!).  You can find all of the details on Helga's blog, or see my last post about it here.

In this first spread I used the big flower and leaves and bird and dates from the August page of my calendar.  I added the lovely red and gold paper and blue butterfly from ARTchix Studio, along with the fun Canadian bank draft and hand written sheet music that I picked up at Ruby Dog's Art House in Vancouver.  The lovely tulip stamp came on mail all the way from Germany.

For this next spread, I used the bird, pumpkins(?) and the two largest butterflies from the calendar.  I added a piece of vintage map, Chinese newspaper, lovely birdcage paper and smallest butterfly from ARTchix and some vintage ledger paper from Ruby Dog's.

Thank you Note

I picked up these gorgeous envelopes today.  Inside are green circular note cards made of sturdy cardstock.  I decorated the round card to make a thank you note for my mum. The envelope hasn't been altered by me in any way - isn't it lovely?!

Helga's Weekly Challenge - use your 2010 Calendar

I always enjoy Helga's challenges, and it seems like ages since I've played in one.  The due date for this one is January 10, so you have lots of time to play along!  You don't need to use any special products, and you will be eligible to win a gift certificate from one of my favourite online stores - ARTchix Studio!  Helga will pick one winner, and then she'll let one of her kitties pick the other (no, the kitties aren't art critics, but Helga has a very scientific way of getting them to pick winners - you can see an example here). 

I had a wonderful "Flora and Fauna" calendar from Cavellini and Company last year (and this year too!).  I'm very bad about saving these and not doing anything with them, so Helga's challenge really motivated me to get out the scissors!  I decided to make a page for my sketchbook project (which I may be keeping after all, since I don't think it will get done in time).

I cut out the bird and the branch and flowers.  I used the dates from the calendar and the butterfly.  I added the green and white paper and old patter paper, plus some stamping and glitter glue.  It went together quickly - the glitter glue took longer to dry I think!

I had enough scraps left from that single page to make two ATCs!  All I added was a green butterfly from ARTchix, some glitter glue and a few bits of German scrap.  The rest was all left over from that one page after I finished the journal spread. 

These appear quite washed out on my computer, but I hope that's my monitor and not the scans.  They're very pretty, and although the colours are much more muted than my usual, they are definitely more vibrant than what I'm seeing here.

I definitley have plans to use up the rest of my calendar - thanks for the inspiration Helga!

Sunday Postcard Art - Celestial

This week, the Sunday Postcard Art crew has chosen the theme "Celestial" - a great start to the New Year!

Images and German scrap stars from ARTchix Studio were used in my card - "Queen of the Night Sky".  Alphabet stamps from Hero Arts. 

Vintage Notecard Swap with Lenna Andrews!

I've joined another one of Lenna Andrews' Creative Swaps - this one is vintage notecards.  Lenna is one of my favourite swap hostesses.  She puts so much work into her swaps - in this case the swap fee included a PDF lesson on several approaches to the vintage notecards, along with some free images to use if you choose, and lots of links to more free images.  Fantastic!  My cards are all very similar, so I'll just show two.  I used images from ARTchix Studio, a vintage Bingo card and words torn out of a vintage dictionary.  Background stamp from Hero Arts, and there's the Rubber Stampede flower again!  We needed to include envelopes - decoration was optional, but who doesn't love to receive a decorated envelope in the mail? 

This swap isn't due until February 26, and there are currently 39 talented participants.  Sign-ups are probably still open if you are interested!
