Helga's Weekly Challenge - Quotes!

This week, Helga challenged us to use a favourite inspirational quote in a piece of art work.  I have to admit that I admire people who have a good memory for quotes, but alas I am not one of them.  So that sent me to the internet to do a bit of research.

I have several things I'm working on at the moment - like Helga I'm on a quest to lose some weight (25 lbs so far!), and I also decided to try to get more exposure for my art work this year (doing all right so far with some magazine publications, a couple of pieces in a book, and I have participated in a couple of local shows - and it's only June!).  So my objective was to find a quote that would be inspirational for both of those goals, but I was leaning towards the art goals if I had to choose one...

I thought I'd start with artists' quotes.  I looked first to Andy Warhol.  Although I love many of his snappy quotes I hardly think they would be classed as "inspirational".  Next I turned to Pablo Picasso - success!  There were many quotes from Picasso that I thought would fit the bill, but the one I liked most was "Action is the foundational key to all success".  This applies to pretty much everything, and is well-suited to me.  A procrastinator at heart I'm always big on ideas, but unless I actually put them into action they really don't count, do they?

I was planning on taking step by step photos, but I got too caught up in the execution.  I did take one at the beginning though...

I covered an 8" X 8" canvas board with vintage papers.  Then I added gesso, paint, more paint, and then my images and ta-da, there you have it.  The lettering is done with some vintage white rub-ons.  I will be so sad when I've used them all up, but the sheets are still fairly full.  I love the way the letters transfer imperfectly.
