Last week we made it to May 31. So this week, let’s try to make it through 1/2 of June. Catching up is hard work!
Let’s start with a look at my entries for the Index Card a Day challenge, affectionately known as ICAD. This year, this creative challenge is in its 10th year. I figured out this is my 7th year participating. The challenge was started by Tammy Garcia at Daisy Yellow Art This challenge is not about making masterpieces, but about building a daily creativity “habit” that fosters creativity for its participants, and brings them all the benefits of living a creative life.
Here are my first 14 cards. I have decided to start with two common elements for each card. First of all, each card will start with a gelli print, directly onto the card. Secondly, I’ve placed a bingo number on each card that indicates the card number (1 - 61). Ok there’s three - thirdly, I’ve decided that each card will be landscape orientation.
I found these words in an old typing book and thought they were perfect for Tammy’s idea of creative “habit”.
This next one was fun and a “happy accident”. I started with a single image. My plan was to alternate the floral picture with the picture of the little girl and then I skipped one of the girl by mistake. Then I realized I could actually make her a twin! It would have been a much different result if I’d stuck to plan. Her face would have been very distorted, which would have also been fun, but in a different way.
And this one was actually created with the lower part of the girl’s portrait as she is holding grapes - no scrap too small!
Ok - enough ICADs for one week - let’s go see what’s happening on the 100 day project.
And last but not least there were a bunch of other odds and ends.
A mixed media painting on paper:
And a couple of mixed media, monochromatic, postcards.
Thanks so much for joining me today while I catch up on my back catalogue! If I can keep on track we’ll be all caught up by next week and then we can go back to weekly updates. Stay safe.
I have been here THREE times since Sunday to leave you a comment. For some reason, your blog hates me, because my internet goes down about the time I plan to leave you a comment. I'm back and the internet seems to be stable, so I'm going to leave comments again. Or at least try to.
I am in love with your ICADs. What a brilliant idea to use the bingo numbers to mark the day. You are definitely the Queen of the Bingo card. And these ICADs seem to prove it. I love Day 2 and Day 13 with the "twins." I also LOVE that so many of these had postage stamps on them, too. You know how I love postage stamps.
Your 100 Days project is looking good, too. I could write a thesis on each and why I liked it, but the one with the cats is my favorite because it also has my birthday on it. Two cats and a birthday. What's not to like, right? However, each of the others has qualities I loved, too. You don't have enough time to read and I would get sore from writing if I let you know how much I like each of these.
