AEDM Day 17 - postcard

Still can't seem to post on the same day I create for Art Every Day Month, but managed to get this done on Monday night.  I didn't think I would get anything done but had some bingo cards already prepped laying on the table (imagine that!).  This might be what gets done for the rest of this week due to other commitments - we shall see!

Sketchbook Project & Altered Playing Card

Made these yesterday and never got them posted. 

First is another spread in the Sketchbook Project Journal.

Rectangle on the right is a window envelope - I cut a window in the pages and pasted the window envelope to it.  I then added an abstract transparency, on which my design and colour scheme were based.

I'm going to be in an Altered Playing Card swap this month - I don't have a parter yet but I wanted to get it done so I can focus on my holiday cards next.  I will be winding down my swapping activities so I can get them made and finish up the Sketchbook Project before the mailing deadline of January 15 which is really going to be here in a blink!

One of the swap criteria for this one is that you must decorate the "face" of the card (not the back) and must leave at least one number and the suit exposed.  I used a playing card that is slightly larger than standard.

Art (Kind of) Every Day Month continues (Kind of)...

Well I can say truthfully that I have worked on something every day this month so far - I just haven't been very disciplined with posting.  Here are a couple of other new postcards going out today, and I am going to link to today's Art Every Day Month even though I haven't been posting every day. 

First is for a friend who kindly gave me his mother's old sewing book to cut up - the images is from the book (and at least one bit of paper under the paint as well). 

Next is for a swap - the theme is "she" and we are to use some sort of saying that incorporates an inspiriing "she" (if that makes sense - I hope it does when you see the card).  I had so much trouble thinking up a saying for this one! 

AEDM - 2 new postcards

Despite best intentions, it seems I can't complete more than two postcards in one night...  This is my post for Art Every Day Month.

The first is being sent as a RAK:

They are both about 5X7 but because I scan everything uniformly for my blog they don't look like they would be the same size.

Both are created using a recycled substrate, gesso, acrylices and assorted pens.  Image 1 from an old science book, and image 2 from a magazine.

AEDM Day 10

I skipped posting on Day 9 - yesterday was all about finishing up some projects and getting things ready to go in the mail, as well as catching up with friends and family.  I went to a craft fair in the afternoon, which was fun.  So I did a few little artistic things (like decorating my envelopes) but just didn't get around to posting.  And that's ok!

 

Today I made a couple of postcards for a swap I'm in.  The theme is Song Lyrics.  I love being inspired by song lyrics! 

The first is from a song by Jamiroquai called Seven Days in Sunny June.  I love the concept of the flowers on the dress blooming.  I seem to be stuck on silouhettes these days. 

The second is based on a song by Sade called The Long Road.

 

AEDM - Day 8

Day 8 of Art Every Day Month brings us to the final bunny.  Mr. Postman bunny is going to a friend who is a big mail art proponent and occasionally dons a postal uniform for mail art shows etc. 

Other creations today included two spreads in my itty bitty Moleskin journal.  It measures 3.5" x 5.5" closed, and folds up with flaps to make an envelope out of the covers.  It's quite clever. 

Day 7 - AEDM - More Bunnies!

I have one more rabbit in progress and then that's it - no more!  I hope you aren't sick of them yet (I confess I kind of am after doing 11.5 of these cards!).

AEDM Day 6 - more bunnies

My goodness, it's like a bunny assembly line here.  AEDM Day 6 brought three more bunny rabbits, all fellows.

AEDM - Day 5 - More Bunnies

Today was day 5 of 30 for Art Every Day Month.

Well they do say that rabbits multiply quickly - yesterday there was one, and today brought three more. I decided these would be a bit more feminine.  Words are from an old sewing book a friend donated to me to rip up.  If you missed yesterday's post, these are ATC size.

I had a lot of fun making these.  I still think yesterday's was my favourite so far. 

AEDM Day 4 - ATC & Journal page

Two things to show for Day 4 of Art Every Day Month.  I made this ATC potentially for a swap but I'm afraid it is too damn cute to let go of!  Do you ever keep your swap items?  I guess I could make me an extra one but I only have 12 bunny heads...  We shall see!

 

Then I worked on this cute little mini moleskin journal using some of my leftover paints from yesterday's postcards.  I was not very happy with it, but decided to throw some magazine silhouettes over it.  I kept it sketchy with a Sharpie instead of using paint.  I am kind of liking it now - it may be growing on me.

Sorry I haven't been around to many participants' blogs.  I am busy with work and other responsibilities.  Juggling in aa daily art project and more web time isn't going as well as I'd hoped.  I will do a big catch-up on the weeken if not before.  Thanks for looking!
