Art Every Day Month - Day 3 - new postcards

I'm getting ready for a swap that's coming up this month (I've signed up for a few things that I couldn't resist AND need to start on my holiday cards soon, so I'm trying to get ahead of the game).  This calls for four cards and I'm showing two because I made two of each colour scheme, all with basicially the same design.

I'm kind of digging the colours in #2, even though they are not as "familiar" as those in #1 - which one do you like best? 

The swap calls for us to add some "motivational" words from magazines or books (could be a phrase or quote or just words).  I'm not feeling very motivational tonight so I'll leave that part for another day.  I'm glad to have the cards made though!  Acrylics/pens on recycled material + more handmade stamps (that 1/2 "wheel" + chevron).

Art Every Day Month - day 2

Warning, this is a pretty long post.  Don't worry - I'm back to work tomorrow so I'll be lucky to get one thing done!  I hope I'm not breaking any rules for AEDM by showing multiple projects that just happened to get completed today...

First I'll start off with some cards I made tonight with a hand-carved stamp I made yesterday.  These were super simple - stamp, trim, mount on pre-fab black card & done. 

Next, I have an abstract postcard.  Substrate is NOT a bingo card [pause for shocked gasps from regular readers], but a recycled box (like cereal box weight).  Note two more hand-carved stamps used here - the "sun" and the black border on the lower left edge. 

Last but not least I have two pink postcards.  These are "re-do" postcards from a swap I was in recently.  I will try to be brief.  The theme was pink.  The month was October.  The theme "breast cancer awareness" was optional.  I made a pretty picture.  I was sent two pink-ribboned cards from two group members - one who has two friends dealing with BC and one who is a thirteen-year BC survivor.  And I made a pretty picture.  I felt bad - I should have known that the theme would naturally attract people with some history with BC.  So, I thought why not make these ladies something that reflects their personal stories and send it along with a nice note?  And that's what I did and they'll be mailed out tomorrow.  I hope they like them.

I used a magazine image to mask over a paper I had painted with pink watercolours.  I painted black acrylic over top and accented with gel pens.

Turquoise Mail Art Call & new challenge (Art Every Day Month)

I am participating in a Turquoise mail art call (all the way in Austria).  You can participate too - you have until March 2014!  All of the info is here.

Also, against my better judgement, I decided to start participating in another challenge - Art Every Day Month.  It takes place throughout the month of November and the idea is exactly as it sounds - do something creative every day. Post and share your work.  There aren't many rules (I love that!), but I'm going to try to actually complete and post something every day for this month of November.  I figure I'll be making my holiday cards and stuff soon - it shouldn't be too hard right?  Join me & a cast of thousands here.  Even if you don't join in you should go to ooh and aah over the host's art work - Leah Piken Kolidas is her name & her first entry is a real beauty.  

Without further ado - here's my turquoise postcard.  Acrylics, pen, washi tape, stamped handwriting - all on an old bingo card. Man's image was made by using a magazine image as a mask - I've already used him three times.
